[Katakuri loves his mother, but he pities her as well. Though he knows nothing of her history beyond Mother Caramel being a part of it, he assumes Mama wasn't brought up... properly.]
[ pudding lets out a long breath, both to steady herself and just... as a long sigh. what a family they have. ]
[ for not the first time, and from not the first sibling, she thinks about asking if katakuri-nii thinks her third eye is creepy. but only briefly. as far as she knows, he's powerful and handsome and flawless. there's no reason he wouldn't find it creepy like everybody else, and she doesn't need to hear it candidly from him, too. ]
katakuri-nii. you love your siblings, though, don't you?
Yes. Very much. You're my precious brothers and sisters. I won't let anything bad happen to you.
[Sure, there are several of his siblings he trusts more than others to be capable and handle things like threats and business. He'll be more apt to protect and save Gateau and Pudding than he will to go to Smoothie's aid.
But that's because he trusts and expects Smoothie to handle herself. And she does impressively.]

[If he'd known he'd made his little sister cry, he'd have felt completely ashamed of himself. But he does recognize her desire to go out and at least see some freedom for a while. Such is a desire all the Charlotte kids have. Even if some hide it better than others.]

Mama confuses loyalty with love. But it makes her happen and keeps us safe. I'm grateful for her strength.
[And even if their family is quite the dysfunctional one, the truth is that Mama's done well to keep them strong and able. It's... a strange life, being a Charlotte.]

[He would have still felt bad for it. As someone who vows to prevent his siblings harm, that includes protecting their happiness. Even if it's a delusion to think he could see them truly happy under the tyrannical rule of their mother. Pudding's words help.]
